Urban Villages:
Four urban villages collectively shape the identity of Beledweyne:
- Hawo Tako: Situated on the eastern bank, Hawo Tako encapsulates the city’s essence with its unique blend of tradition and modernity.
- Bundoweyn: Positioned on the western bank of the Shabelle River, Bundoweyn stands as a testament to Beledweyne’s rich history and cultural heritage.
- Howlwadag: Another jewel on the western side, Howlwadag exudes a vibrant atmosphere and offers a glimpse into the daily lives of Beledweyne’s residents.
- Kooshin: Completing the quartet, Kooshin flourishes on the eastern side of the Shabelle River, inviting exploration and discovery.
The two pairs of villages are demarcated by natural features – the Warabaale Channel and the “Irrid Aamin” road – fostering a sense of unity while celebrating diversity.
